Burleson County is a county in Texas and is part of the College Station-Bryan Metropolitan Statistical area.  It lies about 45 miles east of the state capitol and is bordered by Robertson. Brazos, Washington, and Lee County.  The county is named after a general and statesman of the Texas Revolution, Edward Burleson. As of 2010 there were over 17,000 residents living in Burelson County.

Caldwell is the county seat of Burleson County and is home to over 4,000 residents.  Caldwell alsogoes by the nicknames “The Kolache Capital of Texas” and “The Big Grape.”

Residents of Caldwell have a number of great choices when it comes to shopping and dining.  Brookshire Brothers is the primary grocer and pharmacy in the city. There are also a number of discount and convenience stores such as Stop and Wave and Family Dollar. Caldwell is also home to a number a great restaurants.  For comfort food and the best pies in Caldwell, there’s Kat’s Café.  And if you’re in the mood for outstanding Mexican cuisine, Fasfajitas is the place to go. There’s also the standard assortment of fast food restaurants and pizza to choose from.

Caldwell is also home to a couple of historic landmarks. There’s the Reeves-Womack House, and First Presbyterian Church which was first organized by the Reverend Hugh Wilson in the early 1840s.

The Caldwell Independent School District serves the students of Caldwell.  They manage four schools, Caldwell High School, Caldwell Middle, Caldwell Intermediate, and Caldwell Elementary.


Snook has a population of around 500 people and occupies an area of around 2 square miles.  It is known for an annual event called Chillifest which is an annual charity that donates to area organizations.  It’s a two day chili cook-off and concert featuring major country artists.

Snook offers a number of choices for dining.  There’s Sodolak’s Original Country Inn, K&J Southern Kitchen, La Salada Authentic Mexican Restaurant, Simple Simons Pizza, and Donut Palace.

The students of Snook attend the two schools in the Snook Independent School District, Snook Elementary and Snook Secondary.


Located near the southern border of Burleson County is the city of Somerville, home to over 1300 residents.

Somerville has several convenient options for shopping and dining.  Stores in Somerville include B&B Food, Rockin Mc Rustic, Somerville Farm & Ranch, and Wine & Roses Flower Shop. When it comes to great places to eat, Somerville has some great stops.  There’s Texas Seafood & Steakhouse, Las Fuentes Mexican Restaurant, Susie's Casita Restaurant, and Mama's Kitchen, among others.

The Somerville Independent School District serves the students in southern Burleson County with two schools, Somerville High and Somerville Elementary.
